To better track checked baggage, many airports have implemented individual carrier systems (ICS) or tote-based baggage handling systems (BHS). Working with BHS partners, we offer solutions that are TSA and ECAC Standard 3 certified for totes, meaning bags do not need to be unloaded before EDS screening, eliminating cost and complexity from BHS systems.

ICS or tote-based BHS put checked bags in an individual-controlled tray that carries each bag throughout the baggage handling process—from check-in and early baggage storage to screening and retrieval. Our ability to integrate in-tote screening that meets the detection rate and false alarm rate for explosives specified by the TSA and ECAC-certified totes helps drive overall operational efficiencies for your airport.

Currently, our CTX 9800 is certified for the BEUMER Group’s CrisBag Totes and Vanderlande Totes, with more certifications underway. Each tote is equipped with an RFID chip for monitoring throughout the screening and sortation process, leading to near 100% baggage tracking. Tote integration with our EDS units is just one of the many ways we keep passengers moving.
